What is Signalware?

Ulticom's Signalware service-enabling software lowers costs and accelerates the development and deployment of carrier-grade services. How does Signalware work in wireless?

In wireless networks, Signalware:

  • Is used to develop network elements such as: HLRs, VLRs, AUCs (authentication), SCPs and Short Message Service Centers (SMSC) and others
  • Supports GSM and IS-41 protocols
  • Enables carrier services such as: prepaid, E911, global roaming, wireless email, wireless internet, voice activated dialing, voice and text messaging

How does Signalware work in wireline?

In wireline networks, Signalware:

  • Enables Intelligent Network services such as: IN and AIN SCPs, Service Nodes
  • Enables carrier services such as: 800 number/Freephone, 911, 112 (Europe), caller ID and Voice Messaging.

Does Ulticom have an IP offering?

Signalware SIGTRAN uses industry-accepted standards such as SCTP, M3UA, and M2PA to enable voice and data networks to converge, and allows carriers to offer enhancements such as voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Internet call waiting.

 

nSignia® eSTP (Edge Signaling Transfer Point) brings together Ulticom’s field-proven signaling technology and open computing systems to compose a powerful IP STP equipped with enhanced eSTP capabilities. Based on the IETF SIGTRAN standard, nSignia eSTP cost-effectively bridges SS7and IP signaling networks. With nSignia eSTP, communication system and service providers can leverage current network investments in high-demand applications such as wireless prepaid, text messaging, freephone, global roaming, and voice over IP to seamlessly migrate towards more efficient, standards-based IP networks.

 

What is SIGTRAN?

SIGTRAN is a set of signaling transport protocols developed by the IETF. The Signalware implementation includes the base protocols and gateway interworking functions to support SIGTRAN end points and signaling gateways. With SIGTRAN, Signalware can serve as a gateway, allowing network environments to communicate with each other through SS7. All the protocols and global variants available with Signalware are available enabling services written for SS7 to run over IP.
