Signalware Network-Ready Products
Ulticom's Network-Ready Products perform routing functions for SS7 and Sigtran/IP
signaling networks. These products are ready to deploy out of the box and are derived
from the strong heritage of the #1 market leading SS7 signaling platform, Signalware
SP.
Signalware SG - Signaling Gateway
The foundation of Ulticom's Network-Ready product line is Signalware SG, an IETF
standards-conformant signaling gateway for use between SS7 and Sigtran networks.
Signalware SG is packaged in Sun Netra hardware, suitable for deployment in the
most demanding network environments. Use of energy-efficient platforms can drastically
lower energy consumption, reduce air conditioning, and lower overall maintenance
costs. Ulticom's signaling network interface boards provide access to the SS7 network.
Signalware SG provides such key advantages as Virtual STP, scaling, OA&M capabilities,
and signaling transport optimization. In addition to providing signaling access
for important network elements like soft switches and media servers, Signalware
SG enables IP-based subnetworks, which can reduce operating costs and increase signaling
network reliability. Signalware SG can also be used as an adaptor to replace traditional
narrow band SS7 signaling for long haul signaling transport, dramatically reducing
costs.
Signalware ES - Edge Signal Transfer Point (STP)
Deploying next generation services at the network core is expensive and increasingly
risky. With the introduction of a new network element, the Edge STP, services can
be deployed at the edge of the network without impact to its core, using a device
that operates as a combination traditional STP and internet router. This enables
an "edge-oriented transitional network strategy", which reduces risk as well as
cost.
Signalware ES, Ulticom's Edge STP, is a network-ready STP designed to address incremental
network growth in today's Cap-and-Grow environments. Leveraging Signalware ES as
an intelligent front end, network equipment providers can unlock more value in their
applications. Signalware ES also effectively decouples the application from network
routing constraints, accelerating the migration to next generation service delivery
models.
By placing Signalware ES at the network's edge, opportunities are created to incrementally
extend the existing networks and business models. Providers can create all-IP islands
with remarkable cost and performance benefits, and eventually even replace their
core SS7 network with an IP-based signaling network - one surrounded by islands
of SS7 where cost or operational considerations dictate.
Signalware CS - Core Signal Transfer Point (STP)
Signalware CS is a fully functional, carrier-grade STP that supports the traditional
routing functionality of an STP. It provides powerful network functionality including
cross network services, network border element functionality, virtual signaling
networks or sub-networks, point code emulation and translation, security zones,
and content-based packet steering.
Signalware CS can enable creation of regions in a network, or join dissimilar networks
in a manner that minimizes impact on each participating network. This can be accomplished
with minimal operational impact to existing networks. Signalware CS also offers
comprehensive operational and management capabilities. Signalware CS is delivered
in ready-to-deploy Sun Netra packaging with pre-installed Signalware SS7 interface
boards when required. Typically deployed in either duplex or quad configurations,
a Signalware CS is fully featured.
Signalware CS can replace legacy STPs with significant cost reduction, including
dramatic savings in support costs, electrical power consumption, heat dissipation,
and floor space consumption.
Signalware LB - Signaling Load Balancer
Signalware LB is a turn-key IP-SS7 hybrid network element built upon proven telecom STP capabilities and concepts derived from the Internet world of IP routers, load balancers, gateways, and firewalls. Signalware LB is designed to enable service optimization in signaling networks. Up to 64 computing systems can be represented to the network as a single point code using M2PA links. The capacities of these server farms can grow almost without limit, overcoming traditional signaling link limitations.
Signalware LB makes advanced routing decisions - it can differentiate services, optimize traffic flow, dynamically distribute load, manage congestion, enable new hybrid services, control access, hide information, and more. It provides signaling packet routing between SS7 sub-networks, packet conversion between IP and SS7 as needed, selective packet screening, content-based packet steering, dynamic load distribution, congestion and overload management, and more.
The Signalware LB can also provide important application functionality that can significantly reduce the cost of service creation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
